On December 6, 2000, at the Etoile Hotel in de Buenos Aires, the LACNIC 2000 was held. It was an open meeting on IP policies in Latin America
and the Caribbean, organized with the support of CABASE. At the opening
the Secretary of Communications Dr. Henoch Aguiar made use of the word .
The first presentation was in charge of Andrew McLaughlin, Political and
Financial Director of ICANN.
After lunch, the representatives of ARIN submitted a document to support
the LACNIC, which was also handed over to the journalists present at the
press conference. Among the 110 attending the event, were people from
U.S. , Brazil, Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, Mexico and Cuba.

Senior managers of ICANN and ARIN, in addition to representatives of
