| The first South School on Internet Governance, SOUTH –SSIG, will be held
in Buenos Aires, Argentina from March 30 to April 1, 2009.
Due to the relevance of this topic and as the articulator of
collaborative efforts for Internet development and stability in Latin
America and the Caribbean, LACNIC sponsors this activity together with
other important organizations of the region.
The main objective of the South School of Internet Governance is to
train new leaders of opinion in all aspects related with Internet
Governance, from a global perspective and with focus on the Latin
America and Caribbean Region.
During three days of intensive training, the students will learn about
the political, economic, social and legal implications of Internet
Governance, the role of ICANN, RIRs, ccTLDs, gTLDs, IDNs, IPv6, legal
aspects of security and privacy on the Internet as well as freedom of
expression, privacy, e-commerce, gender, new market opportunities,
protection of intellectual property, fight against cybercrime, digital
divide and the development implications of Internet's future and evolution.
