Course Description:
The RPKI tutorial will serve as a framework for the official presentation of LACNIC's resource certification system (beta version).
During this meeting, we will offer a theoretical framework that will serve as a basis for a proper understanding of the system and its procedures; we will continue with a brief summary of the project's history, from its beginnings up to the implementation of the beta version; and we will also see some future activities and commitments undertaken by LACNIC. We will then explain some of the system's characteristics that will allow attendants to identify what materials the application can generate and what they are used for and, among other technical features of the system, we will also see how the public repository is structured. The application's user manual will be handed out to participants as a complement to the tutorial, and we will have the opportunity to see how routers perform when they interact with the materials generated by the application.

Gerardo Rada Ingeniero de sistemas, egresado en 2006 de la universidad nacional experimental de la fuerza armada de Venezuela UNEFA, con 6 años de experiencia en el desarrollo de sistemas se desempeña actualmente como ingeniero de software y desarrollo de LACNIC, teniendo como principal responsabilidad la gestión y el desarrollo del sistema de certificación de recursos de esta institución. Anteriormente dentro del centro nacional de innovación tecnológica CENIT de Venezuela es seleccionado en 2007 como parte del equipo de desarrollo binacional Uruguay-Venezuala en el marco del proyecto generado Ruby para Genexus. En 2008 integra el grupo técnico del proyecto prospección tecnológica del CENIT que deriva en la publicación del Estudio Prospectivo sobre las TIC y las Industrias de Contenidos Digitales en Venezuela.
Michael De Leo - Cisco Systems Michael De Leo works at Cisco Systems as a CTO for Latin America under the Office of the CTO. He has worked at Cisco for 12 years and has been involved in networking and designing networks for over 18 years. He is currently involved in Connected Real Estate, IPv6, Cloud Computing, Data Centers, Building Automation and other new technologies that are transforming customer networks. During his years at Cisco he has help service provider and enterprise customers design networks, look at new technologies and best practices, help promote the development of the Internet in emerging markets in Latin America, Asia and Africa as well as create awareness internally about some opportunities in new areas of technology.
