On 1 January 2011 LACNIC will launch it Resource Certification System - RPKI into production. In this first stage LACNIC's system will operate in a "hosted" mode which means that resource certificates will be created and maintained by LACNIC.

By means of these certificates, LACNIC's members can create signed objects (ROAs - Origin Routing Authorization) for the resources that they want to advertise through the origin ASN specified.

In the next stages of development of the RPKI Resources Certification we will be adding features to increase the availability of the system and the possibility for LACNIC's members to create their own certificates, which in turn will be verified and signed by LACNIC (known as "delegated" mode). These features are planned for the second half of 2011.
